Location

Grace Junior/Senior High School is located in southeast Idaho, approximately 47 miles north of the Idaho/Utah border. The City of Grace sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by forested mountains representing the northern end of the Wasatch Mountain Range. The Bear River meanders throughout this beautiful agricultural valley. From kayaking the class V waters of the Bear River in the depths of the Black Canyon to snowmobiling in deep powder during the winter months to witnessing historical sites associated with the famous Oregon Trail, residents and visitors alike are enamored with the wonders of this area. Grace is also a popular stopping place for travelers who are on their way to Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, or to the famous Lava Hot Springs mineral pools.

The Community

Grace Junior/Senior High School is part of the Grace Joint School District #148 which spans parts of two counties: Caribou and Franklin Counties. Agriculture is the largest economic industry in the area, with farmers raising seed for the famous Idaho potato as well as barley, wheat and a variety of hay crops.  Ranching and dairy operations can also be seen throughout the area. Monsanto Company, located just thirteen miles to the northeast of Grace, is also a major employer in Caribou County and provides additional economic stability to the area.  Grace, Idaho is home to approximately 990 residents (2000 census) who are spread throughout this beautiful valley.

The Schools

Since the 2002 inception of No Child Left Behind, Grace High School has met the standards for adequate yearly progress each year of NCLB legislation. For over 75 years, Grace High School has been accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and Cognia (formerly AdvancED).

The Curriculum

Grace School District # 148 is on a four day week. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  School normally begins the third week of August and typically ends just prior to Memorial Day weekend (depending on the year). The academic program is organized in two semesters with a total of seven (7) credits per semester and 60 minute class periods. In accordance with state standards, a minimum of 46 credits is required for graduation.

Class offerings include regular high school courses, tech prep college courses, dual-credit university courses, on-line courses, and dual enrollment courses offered through Idaho State University. Elective courses include agricultural and welding classes, cabinetry and construction, technology courses, and a variety of music and art courses. Advanced courses include foreign language, physics, chemistry, calculus, and anatomy/physiology. An on-line facilitator is on-staff to assist students with virtually any accredited on-line course available through the internet. The Idaho Digital Learning Academy is a mainstay for online courses offered at Grace High School.

Grading and Ranking

GHS assigns letter grades using the 4.0 system. Letter grades are assigned as follows:

B+ = 3.33                      D+ = 1.33

B   = 3.00                      D   = 1.00

B-  = 2.67                      D-  =  .67

C+ = 2.33                      F   = 0.00
